Thanks y'all. I realize the photos don't show it, but the bottom pen isn't what it appears.
Each segment is cherry, maple, cherry, maple. This photo helps clarify that:

Gary, Great looking pens as usual. I agree that the segmented one is definitely a showstopper. After another dozen or so slime lines (running low, hint,hint) I think I’ll be ready to try a cigar.
