Well, after much consultation and discussion, my client decided on what it was that he wanted. The wood was easy ... it had to be Bloodwood. But the kit took a lot more thought. Once the decision was finally made I had to go to work. Picked up the kit at the Hamilton Woodshow this weekend, got lobo3603 to turn the 11mm drill shank down small enough to fit in the 3/8" chuck on my drillpress, and then started turning and finishing.
I think it turned out great, and he absolutely loved it! He hasn't put it down as far as I know. But he won't pay me ... I guess sometimes being "Dad to a 1st Grader" has its disadvantages. Anyway another nice pencil in the hands of a student in time to complete tonight's homework.
Chrome Shop Pencil kit dressed in Bloodwood. A very fine treatment of Raspberry Saman Wood Stain to brighten the colour, and 7 coats of CA/BLO to seal it all in.
Thanks for looking!
