I had a belt that belonged to my uncle before he passed away in '07. I figured out how to get some pens out of it since the belt was destroyed by working and it could not be worn. The one above My dad turned and finished. I made the blank.

This one is leather and purple heart strips. I made it for my brother.

This one I made for myself. The ribby texture is cool, and it looks pretty heavy duty.

This is the one I turned for my grandmother. The bottom half is acrylic.

This one I made for my cousin. It started as a complete stack of leather, but it was my first attempt and the stack broke apart in the drill press and I added a piece of cherrywood. I like the way it came out a lot.

All of these pens are extremely sentimental, and were a challenge to make. I used pretty much the entire belt and there is no more. Just wanted to share what I thought was a pretty cool idea as a memorial for a lost loved one. He was into guns and machining and making stuff, and I know he would have enjoyed the hell out of seeing them.
