Spalted maple custom order

A fella at work walked up to my desk and said, "I hear you make pens. I have some wood from an old tree that was taken down near where my family lives, and I'd like to have some pens made from it."

Here are the first two of six total (I may be able to piece the cut-offs together for an extra pen or two).

I dont know much about wood grain and all the names that they are called. But I do know a nice looking pen when I see one those are very nice.

Im a big fan of spalted wood! The pens turned out great. Nice job keeping the 2 tone and lines throughout the whole pen length.
