This is my second pen in a spalted wood. This one was fun to turn because it took the finish so well. It was a stabilized blank that was a freebie from River Ridge Products. I will definately try some more of the spalts. Feel free to comment and thanks for looking.

Wow Gary, that looks great! Is that a knot toward the top of the handle? It gives it a neat touch. Nice finish, too. Did you just tripple-buff that?

Yes, there was a small knot that popped out during turning. This pen was finished with lacquer then polished with micro mesh. I didn't use the 3-stage buffing. I only use the Beall buffer on larger objects like bowls.
