I have no idea why this blank from Exotic Blanks is called "Sovereign", but I like how the colors match this Slimline which I bought when I first started making pens and didn't know any better.

BTW, to the naked eye the pen finish is almost a perfect match to the purple swirl in the blank.

Sovereignty....

Royal Purple and White Ermine.

The colors of Sovereignty.

These colors were supposedly the hardest things to come by during the middle ages, and thus were only affordable by the very wealthy, I.E. Kings, Emperors, etc.

To make an ermine ruff for a cape requires about 30 of the little critters, and then the fur could only be collected during the winter, as that is the only time they are in white phase.

Purple dyes were extremely hard to make, and even harder to make durable enough to stay purple.
