here are a few recent pens
This is mango from a tree a couple of us cut down a few weeks ago.
this mangs seems a bit pale, but there is some nice fiddle in parts.
the pen is a basic slimline pen with longer tubes and a fat style designed to show off the wood. although the shape is very chunky it isnt bad to write with.
same style in elglish elm this time with a burnt band.
again same style in yourkgum burl.
one more in the same style in a particularly fiddly dark piece of surian batu.
I have visions of a timber collection in this shape, wheh I get a new timber I like to make this shape as it shows me how the timber looks in a variety of different diameters, the large section shows the grain detail off better than a thinner pen.
this is a more conventionaly shaped slimline, the timber is some sort of ausie eucalipt. It is from a piece I jigsawed out of the front of a clients stage to put in mic sockets.
I will get 3 out of the piece, I will give them to the client sometime.
again a conventional ladies waist pen on a standard slimline this time in plumb I got from a pen swap.
A clasic in tulipwood, I'm not happy with the shape, it looks better than it feels, i'm still fuguring out how to get the best from this kit.
a much better shape on this kit in purple juniper, the shape still needs a bit more refining. al little more fullness.
again a less than ideal shape in purpleheart.
more sometime soon.
cheers
