This is a pen my son did over the weekend. The bottom is a yippee-freebie from exotics (drippings). Unfortunately he's 15 and doesn't quite understand that sometimes less is more and blew out the top. So he glued up a bunch of blank ends, drilled, glued and turned them. I really rather like the affect. It's also the best finish he's managed so far.

i never done that, i allways use a new piece of wood, one of the great advatages of making your own blanks. i allways like to hear about kids my age getting into pen turning. great pen!!!!!!
