MANY years ago, this material was sold at WoodCraft. Fourteen inch rods and my recollection is that it was made by Mazzuchelli in Italy (I hope to confirm this--I have several rods in my shop from that "era".

Now, I have not seen THIS pattern at all.

So, this is what we USED to make into pens!! VERY temperamental to drill, but it makes a nice pen!!

I was at a pen meeting last week and the discussion centered around man made materials used in pen turning. I had no idea of the variety of materials that have been commonly used over the years.

One particular material (Cebloplast) had an amazing color pattern and is basically indescribable by me. My wife and I agreed that the pen made from this material was our favorite of the night.

Anyway, I do find that to be pretty cool and hopefully someday will find some to play with.

I have decided the man made materials reflect the stereo typical maker's personality. Those items from Italy, if treated right will love you for ever. Slip up once and you are "swimmin wit da fishes"
