I was over at my local wood store awhile back and saw this Guapinolillo bowl blank. It was all waxed up and basically looked like a nondescript piece of dark Central American wood. Never trust that what's under the wax looks like what you see waxed!! I scratched off some of the wax on the end grain and spotted some action. So for $7, I put it on my pile and forgot about it.

I decided to cut the bowl blank into pen blanks and WOW was I surprised when I opened her up. I had to dry the blanks with my microwave and oven technique which I rushed to get at this wood. I decided to go for a cigar on the first blank. Roughed it down with a Bedan and shaped it with a Lacer skew. One drop of tung oil with driers. MM-12000, TBuff, CA-BLO x 4, MM-12000, DBuff, Ren Wax. And something emerges out of nothing!
