I painted the inside of the blank silver and the tube white. I was having trouble for a bit with air bubbles getting trapped and tossed two tubes and blanks. grrrrr oh well live and learn. And if it were not for this site and everyones love for this art.

I also found out the color of the paint you use on the inside really makes a difference on the end result. If you look at the two red colored pens, one is brighter. That one i used a bright fire engine red to paint the inside of the tube the other one I used black.

You're right, there's a big difference on the colors there. On the fire and ice blank I made, I painted the tube black - on the other half, I'll try white and see how that turns out.

Hayseedboy, I purchased it from Woodcraft.com. If you look at the two pens side by side you can really tell the difference in them. The darker one was painted black inside the blank and the brighter one that pops is painted fire engine red inside. Hope to see yours once done.
