After seeing some beautiful work it just makes me want to do something nice. I've been experimenting with some different materials and finally got one to hold together through the entire turning process.
This pen is a Big Ben kit from PSI. The blank was made from 1/4" strips of cocobolo and hard maple with aluminum flashing between each piece of wood. Afterwards the whole thing was cut at an angle. I like how the parts align differently when the tip is exposed or retracted.
Still working on getting my finishing better. I flip back and forth between CA and plexiglass finish. The plexi is easier for me than the CA. This is 4 coats of thin, 2 coats of medium and two more of thin CA. Sanded to 800 grit then buffed. Still not perfect though.
