Here are some recent pens I made. I started pen turning a couple of months ago so any feedback would be appreciated.
Also any comments on the photography would be great!

There are a couple acrylics from Exotic Blanks, a burl and two misc woods.

Thanks

The black background is wanting more lighting, I know...it sounds 'wrong'. The shutter time was probably really long for these shots(just guessing), but you can see the 'noise' in the photo(don't ask...I was a nerd that likes to photo stars and stuff).

The pens are pretty well done!

I know your right. But I can't figure out how to do that. I have tried all different light levels, placing, etc. but can't seem to get it right.
And yes the shutter was 400.

Any suggestions?
I am using Marks setup for taking the pictures. Here: http://www.penturners.org/forum/f24/my-pen-picture-set-up-106576/

Thanks to all for the kind comments!

I'm thinking of trying a gray or a light blue background for the pictures and see what turns out.

Great looking pens Stuart, very good work. As for photos you may want to use a faster iso, I almost always use 1600.

Only if you are using a longer shutter speed and turn your flash off. If I shoot a picture of the moon I use an iso of about 400 and a shutter speed of 1/250 sec.

I've been using no flash with an iso of 400. For lighting I use two 60 watt flood lights on either side.
All the photos are edited for exposure in Lightroom because I can not get any dark enough while raw.
I'm using a Canon 50D with a macro lens.
If any of this helps. :)
