Soapstone Pen & Desk Box

Matching salmon coloured banded stone for the box and the pen.

The box is 4-1/4" x 3-1/4" x 1-1/2"

I made a nice pile of soapstone dust today with a big forstner bit!

The box is milled out of a single lump of stone. The lid out of a separate piece, and it has a flange all round the underside so that it sits into the box.

Its name is..... erm... soapstone.

Seriously though, it comes from a contact in Kenya, and when I get batches of it I never really know what colours and patterns it will be. In the last batch I had about four or five pieces of that salmon coloured banded stone.

If I send a photo of the stone I want, it very rarely comes the same. But that's Kenyans for you.
