I had a scrap of this left over from some inlayed boxes years ago. It is extremely brittle, but as soft as butter. One of the ends chipped off when I drilled the blanks, glued it back on with CA. That added to the nervous factor, never broke anything during drilling. Turned it all with the skew, no trouble while turning. Added 2 coats of CA for the finish. The bushings did not want to come off. Used a skew to score at the junctions of the bushings and stone. Still had some minor chipping at the point. Cleaned that up okay. Was scared to press in the parts, thinking the stone would break. Chucked the parts in a drill chuck in the lathe and took a file to remove a few thousandths. No breakage, the blood pressure can now return to normal!!
