Thanks everyone. I'd advise anyone doing a pine cone blank to bring plenty of CA. I found that after normal application and sanding, the pine cones were proud of the resin and had lost their CA coating. So it was back on the lathe to apply more--I must have 10 coats of thin and 20 of medium on there.
