I had to cool off from this Arizona heat. I figured why not a Snow Leopard. This is a Black Ti Jr Statesman. These blanks are beautiful and a dream to drill and turn. Thanks again Ed for such a great product!!!![:p]

Indeed!!! As soon as my "kitty" has some more in it he's going to get an order from me. Anyone seen the new colored pen tubes from CSUSA? I got an email from them but haven't seen much talk about them either way.

BEAUTIFUL job, Tim.

I haven't been real excited about that kit, NOW I see how it can be used to achieve GREAT results.

Great looking pen.
Makes one want to slide to the darkside. [}:)][;)]

Seriously, the fact that this kit is fairly innocuous is one the things I really like about it. What you put on it stands out rather than the kit itself.

Gary,

If I spend $30 for a kit, wouldn't I WANT it to stand out???

I agree with your assessment, and that is why the kit seems to me to have LITTLE purpose. It's a step above a baron at 3 times the price!![:(][:(][:(][:(]

Yes -- Stand out without overpowering the craftwork we put into it.
I really want a kit that simply supports whatever I want to do with it.
Something that's made of material I don't have to worry about the plating wearing out but
NOT something that makes people ignore the work I did to make a particular pen.

That kit -- Jr. Statesman in Rhodium and Black TI was $22.00 during the GB.
So, it's almost twice a similar Baron when Barons are bought in a similar GB.
I think the Jr. Gent is more comparable to a Baron -- the Jr. Statesman's embellishment on the
CB, Finial, and Cap are likely the reason for the increased cost.
And in Black TI, it's subtle. Just right for a gorgeous burl or Snow Leopard [;)]

When you buy in the group buy, remember you are STOCKING!

I SUGGEST (this is an opinion, kind of) you continue to view the kit as a $30 kit. Since, if you get an order and you don't have a group-buy going on, you will PAY $30, if you are out-of-stock. Best to have enough margin built in that you still WANT the order.

Also, we could get into "cost of money" analysis, etc. But, we won't since it is not that important, just a suggestion. [:)][:)]

Your right on the ecoanalysis. I've followed the thread discussing this a couple of places and have adopted the philosophy. However, I'll use--keep in the back of my mind--the actual purchase price if I get a discount request on a particular pen.

I was mistaken on the GB cost; none the less:
Black TI Baron RB $14.25 vs. Rhodium and Black TI RB Jr. Statesman $23.30 (each price).
The Rhodium/22K Gold RB is $30.

Given that, I think both (Baron & Jr. Statesman) are reasonable kits for the differences, and I'll continue to carry and sell both.

Gary,

Don't get me wrong, I CARRY AND SELL both, too. I just COMPLAIN about the price of the statesman kits!!!

(BTW, it does NOT change the price, just makes me feel better!)

Ask Frank about drill bits, that's where I learned this philosophy!!
