I didn't know that Snakewood could have 'eyes'. Is that what you call that swirl? This wasn't visible from the outside of the blanks, so I was very pleased when it showed up.
EDIT: Thought I should show the other side of the pen.
I made a European Style pen using Snakewood back in 2005 and after finishing it I put it in my case along with other pens that I had made. Just recently in January of 2008 I happen to pull the pen out and I found several cracks in the wood. I know that the wood was dry before turning it. I have heard from others that Snakewood is unstable and that this is a common thing. Does anyone know of a way to prevent this from happening?
