This is my first attempt at casting a couple of Steam Punk blanks. My copper strips aren't as smooth as I would have liked (unsteady hands). I wanted to use a slimline kit for my first try. The kit is Antique Brass. I didn't like the brass nib that came with the kit so I changed it for a gun metal nib. Not perfect, but it's a start.

I would go for all gun metal next time..

Thanks for the comments. I think the gun metal idea would be the way to go next time. The brass finial, clip and the center band were dark enough that I left them on. The nib was just too bright and didn't look right.

Yes, I made the blank. I used PR for the pour. I made a mold around a piece of 5/8" delrin rod and made 2 plugs also out of the delrin. The background is aluminum tape and the copper is copper foil stained glass tape.

I think the blank and the workmanship are very nice. Sorry, but I just do not like the "wasp-waist" look--it just offends my eye. How much nicer this pen would be (IMHO) with a "Comfort" band!
