Very nice Ken . It's probably the picture but the pencil almost looks like Purpleheart .

It's the pic. I guess I have'nt had enough coffee yet today - I just could'nt get my lighting right! I may also be that backdrop I used. It's the first time I tried taking any pics using it. I think it kind of makes the pens look like they are floating, but I also think it somehow messed up my cameras thinking!!

I have a red heart blank on the lathe right now I am about ready to chuck! It is the worst for tear out I have run across yet. I don't know why. The tools are sharp and the grain looks benign but the thing keeps tearing out chunks. I am glad you had better luck than I.

I've not experienced any tear-out with Redheart yet - I must be lucky!

The background IS a little distracting, especially for those of us that have defective color vision. Still I like the fact that you are breaking away from the plain and mundane.
