Yup I did get one done. The inlay is a Sterling Silver Eagles head.
The wood is Dalberg Stevensoni---from some guy named Nolan.
Kit is Jr Statesman from those folks over at CSUSA.
The finish was done off the lathe with Lacquer--I had to beg the wife to do it.
Hope you folks like --- it's been a long time getting this pen done.

Beautiful pen. I love the inlay. The only change I would make is the center band. I think I would like it better plan silver. Just my opinion. It's a great looking pen as is anyway. Ya got me looking at all kinds of things that I think might make an inlay.

Wow! That's a beauty! Very nice work!

IMHO, it's a real close call between the gold to highlight the wood tones (as you've done) or "not gold" to tie in the accent/inlay.

Hi Gary,
Yowsa, that's some nice work. That burl really pops. I got 20 slimline blanks last year, before the price went up and I can't wait to try it now.

Fix the picture though after looking at it I feel drunk ... The Photo is perfect but the angle throws it off

Butch I kinda had to move the pen and camera around until I could find a spot where the lighting was right. I really need to get a better light box set-up.
Thanks everyone for the kind feedback.

I've missed SOYP for the past few days, sorry it took so long, Gary!!

Great job!!!

I believe the centerband decoration is not needed (as PaulDoug said) but you can always make TWO versions and let the customer decide -- that's called a "yes or yes close" for those who don't STUDY sales.

Nice stick of wood, too!

Gary, I think you did well with both the wood and inlay, I do agree with both Paul and Ed on the c/b.
