Shiraz Grape Vine

Had an order for two pens out of Shiraz grape vine. Ordered three blanks from robutacion and thought I would show the one that didn't work out.

It turned out looking so nice that I have made it my carry pen, even though it is not sellable. The tip had a section break off which I filled with sawdust and the under the clip a rather large section broke off and the crack lines can bee seen even though I was able to glue the piece back in place.

Still, it is a beautiful piece of timber!

I think it looks great! If you could add a few more glue lines, it would look spalted!

I see what you did there. Nice. Pen looks great too--might have to give it a try with some Texas Mustang grape...

The blank was already stabilized. I think it only costs an extra buck to get them already stabilized, and since I don't have the equipment to do it myself it seemed worth it! As I have shown it to people they have had a hard time picking out the repair at the nib end, but the crack is easier to see, although most have said it wouldn't bother them. Usually followed by, can I have it?
