Here are a few more I played with last night.

Heritage Oak Burl from Dario. Sorry the pic doesn't capture the grain on this one. And yes the ends flare a little. That was by choice.

This is for my brothers soon to be father-in-law. He is a minister. The kit is PSI traditional RB with medium FP nib from CSUSA done in Bethlehem Olivewood. This nib is very smooth.

I like your Oak pen. That's nice, and I know what you mean about the figure.
I have one of those Heritage Oak blanks on the lathe right now, in a cigar pen. I is really pretty wood, I'm going to be real careful on finishing this one, it's going to be nice, me thinks.
