thanks everyone, the material is antler. the etching is an old american art form created by the sailors aboard whaling ships some 200 years ago. i have two pieces that were my mothers and have always loved the idea of drawing on bone.

JudeA, go for it. just with the 2 i have done, i've found new muscles in my arm i forgot i had[8D]
