Ok the bash has gotten me thinking about doing more segmenting and also got me to try my hand at scolloping. The first pen that in my images is Buckeye Burl with Purple Heart and Maple Scolloping

The second pen is a random segmenting with Blood Wood rings at each end of each barrel.

I hope you like them. They are far from perfect but I really enjoyed making them.

Liking the top one here! Looks well planned out...could have used a really light colored timber to 'set it off'...but I still like it!!!

Watch out, scalloping can get addictive!! :) They look nice and even, especially for a first try. My first scallops were all over the place!!
Nice spacing of the blood wood end rings too.

Really like the random segmented one. I can appreciate the scalloped one, but I think I would like it a lot more if there were more contrast. Did the maple get stained by the purpleheart dust while sanding?

Anyway, great start.
