I got this really pretty Ruby Tortoise Lucite blank and wanted to make something with it right away,so off to the Nat'l HQ. to start to work.
I could not decide which color I wanted to back paint so after the usual white, black, candy apple red, even flip flop purple I just wasn't happy.
I'm sure this has been done a million times so I decided to skip the stress
and just eliminate the tube altogether.
C&C welcome. (yeah, like I'll read it ,between SWMBO and 2 grown daughters
I've mastered the art of Ninja listening)
Thanks For Looking
Mark

Pretty neat. Never thought of eliminating the tube for a kit pen. How durable is it? I know the tube adds some structural support.

Without the tube, do you drill a smaller hole in the blank so that the parts will fit?
I guess drilling a smaller hole adds a little bit of strength.
I like that pen - the blank color really works with the hardware.

Geez, now we need to start paint our ink sticks to match:eek:

Well done, guess you need to measure the press in parts and match it up to the correct drill size and press carefully! Well done!!!

The drill size for the hardware was 11/32 so I used a 9/32 pilot hole to leave some beef in the middle of the tube. The hardware is a snug fit but I used epoxy as a lube to slid it in by hand,so far,so good.

I like the pen. Be careful with the ninja listening. A friend of mine was doing the classic yes... huh... I see... oh... that makes sense... definitely. And 1 week later when the parcel came he found out he agreed to letting his wife buy a new pair of shoes.
