Great looking pens Mac. I like the deer antler a lot. What did you finish it with? I just made two pens of deer antler and used ca for a smooth finish. They were a little rough, even after sanding them to 500 grit, and dull looking until I ca'ed them. Keep up the great work.

Thank you all for the nice comments.

Fred, The Lacy Sheoak turns very easy and smooth. No problems with it at all.

Smoky, I turned the antler, sanded from 180 through 400 grit. At 320 and 400 I stop the lathe and sand long way. I then put thin CA on the pieces and wipe it on with a paper towel. That sets the CA. Then a light 400 grit spinning again to cut the CA off to the bone. Then I have some foam backed very fine abrasive sheets. Got them at Rockler Hardware, made by 3M. Yellow color. No indication as to what grit or fineness they are. I rub the pieces down with that spinning, stop and look for any defects. Then rub long way with the lathe stopped.

Take the pieces off and then a one time dip in 50% thinned Deft Lacquer. Buff on a buffing wheel. Assemble pen and rub down with Renaissance Wax.
