Riverboat Pen

Here is my first attempt creating a segmented pen. The pine is from the paddlewheel off a riverboat that a friend sent to me in exchange for making the pen. The wood was in bad shape but nothing that stabilization couldn't correct. I was lucky to get eight blanks out of the small block.

I tried to match the colors of a riverboat's red and white paddlewheel.

Is the red barrel portion acrylic or dyed wood? Great looking pen.

The red part is acrylic. I think I will try Poplar double dyed red if I can find some too.
