This is made with a scrap of what patternmakers call tooling board and is sold by the name Renshape. This is a polyurethane board that is very dense. It looks like hard candy to me when polished. If you look near the point you can see that it is slightly transparent. You can just start to see the brass tube inside. Just barely. Very easy to turn, the long stringy curls break off the arbor much easier than PVC. I guess I should call this pen Merry Christmas. They do make a cream colored tooling board, hmmmmm, maybe a candy cane is in the future?
