I am going to try to stay within the rules of the IAP, here.

So, this is the pen I made last night.

It is stabilized redwood burl. Although the wood is dark, it has a large number of "eyes" and the grain is "wonkety". And, it has some holes. Here is the picture, comments on the pen and material welcome

I have some red wood burl with eyes that are not stabilized and they turn fine. You would think that the stabilizing of wood, would do just that, Stabilize it, so those issues are controlled. But, what do i know. Carl

Great looking pen Ed. I like redwood burl. I am on the side of the people that feel that stabilizing burls is a waste of time, and all the redwood burl I have turns like butter. I don't find that there's too often any little voids in it either, just big ones that are easy to locate if you are cutting it up small. But..that's just what I have experienced.
