Morning all,

I just received some Redwood burl blanks from rockb on the forums here and I couldn't wait to get one on the lathe. I let the wife pick the blank and I was off to the races.

These are beautiful blanks! I was originally going to finish with Doctors pen plus, but when I got them turned and sanded down to 600 I noticed a small crack on the top section. With the Navigator style pen, the wood becomes very thin on the cap, so I was afraid if I just used friction polish that the crack would have gotten much worse with use. So I went with a CA finish. You can't even see the crack now and the pen turned out really nice.

Now I just need to get an actual photo box for taking pictures cause I could not get decent pictures on it's own. I'll post the best ones I could take.

Thanks again to rockb for the great blanks at a great price.

Chris, your fine craftsmanship deserves a terrific photo. For us. For you.

I promise that I am working on it. I have a friend that is a photographer and he is going to help me build a light box and figure out the best lighting to take pictures with. I have also been studying the photography area on this forum too.

Thanks,
