OK Scott and I must be on the same page here. I wanted to turn one of his great Red Oak Burl blanks since I got them. I stabilized all of mine but they are also hard as a rock. I had to sharpen my skew 2x while making this pen. Now I know that Scott has said I should get back to a little segmenting but, with wood like this one my segmenting seems a little crude. This thing has more grain going in all different directions it isn't funny. This is natural segmenting that nobody could possible do on their own. Sometimes you just cannot make a piece of wood better than it was and this is one of those times.

Woohoo!

You got more 'rays' in your piece then I had in mine....awesome stuff! And you are right, I wouldn't even be able to think of a material to segment this with. But if anyone can, you can!!
