Here is one of the nicest blanks I have gotten out of my Black Ash Burl to date. This one is stabilized and deep dyed red on a Jr. Gent 2 Rhodium kit. This one has incredible rays and curl and the chatoyance is just beautiful..

Shoot... I love Black Ash Burl. And I need to stop looking at wood too late at night!!!

Very nice pen!

What a Magnificent Blank, Mike.
This is the reason I so love Timber.
I can imagine the delight you experienced when you unveiled that hidden Beauty.
Again, Superb Fit and Finish.
Absolutely Outstanding.

Thanks for the compliments guys.

Dan you are right about the red heart final that is what I usually use I purchase it just for that purpose.

Brian you are also right. I purchase all of my woods with the idea that there will be a few real treasures in them. Some of the rest gets sent off for new turners and such.

I like to experiment with dying my woods and using really different techniques. I have a pretty good one now with my cactus juice and a few odd ball ways of using it. It isn't a fast process but you can see the results.

Keep trying new things and don't stop if you do others will pass you by.

It does look cool, I have not been able to get a super image of the chatoyance of these pens to show the entire scope of the depth. I just know that I like trying t get them.
