This blank set me back $150.00. Thats what I paid for a dump truck full of assorted slab wood cutoffs from a lumber mill (delivery included) I was able to rescue a half a dozen bowl blanks , about 15 more rainbow poplar blanks and about a cord and a half of fire wood from it. So all in all not a bad buy. This poplar had streaks of black, grey, burgundy, blue and deep purples as well as greens and browns. Im usualy not a big fan of poplar for pen blanks but I'm pretty happy with this one. It is on a CSUSA 10k CEO twist pen.

Nothing was used to enhance the color of the wood. just sanded to 400 then 8 coats of thin ca, micromeshed and polished

Wow..I just looked at the pics on another computer and cant believe the difference. With an older monitor the pics look very dark and show none of the purple color, On my laptop the pics are a more accurate representation of the colors in the wood. I would have lightened them on this computer if it was the one I was posting on.

What a beautiful find - and great work on your part! Beautiful pen. I agree with you about poplar for pens. But in this case, wow! Classy!
