Yah I am a wood guy too. I got to turn special order stuff when they pay! BTW I have some of the redwood burl for sale.

Use Micromesh.

As long as you dont apply too much pressure, the acrylic wont hurt the MM, even dry. I've recently converted to wet sanding with my MM though, it's a lot more forgiving.

those are great! how do you sand them so pretty? does the sandpaper cause too much heat buildup, or do you wet sand?

I sand with sandpaper to 600 lathe on slowest speed (500rpms) and then switch to MM dry all the way through the grits. I then follow that with novex plastic palish.
