Hi gang,
Here is my first attempt at making a segmented pen. It's not the greatest pen I'ver ever seen, but with a little bit more time on sanding (before assembly) I might get the hang of this.

What do you think???

Sorry for the scan quality, wood (& stuff) comes before computer stuff on the priority list.

Thanks for looking,
53Jim

It's actually 4 different colors of corian. I think if I had used wood I could have had tighter joints between the sections. Next time I will try wood. I wonder how yellowheart, padauk, and maybe white oak would look together???

THANKS FOR THE NICE COMMENTS, EVERYBODY.

Jim, that's a great job! You clearly put a LOT of effort into that pen; there are many more segments in it than I've seen in most, and the attention to detail in getting the segments lined up properly is impressive. Congrats!

Hey Jim , The pen looks Great!!
If you woudl like to get the seams tighter try this

1. make sure all surfaces are smooth (do not scratch up the surface!)
2.clean surface with some sort of alcohol. ( I use denatured )
3. don't try to clamp too many surfaces at the same time ( no more than 3 )
4. apply the med CA glue and rub the two surfaces together to make sure every spot on both side is covered. Be generous with the glue.
5.work quickly because the alcohol will act as an accelerator
6. I always wear gloves because this is very messy
doing this should elimanate any spaces. If you can see spaces filled with glue you are not clamping tightly enough or your surfaces are not smooth enough.Good luck and keep us informed!
