I sent this pen to my PITH partner not long along,
I thought on what and how to make an interesting twist on a Pine Based pen.
Although it did not turn out 100% the way I wanted it too - It is still an interesting concept in my mind
Rather than using regular pine wood I ordered 200
Scotch pine Tree Seeds – I then made an attempt at an abstract colorization poly resin casting using greens, browns, a touch a of off white and mica powders.
After the mix was ready I added the seeds to the brown portions of the resin and set the casting. Unfortunately more seeds turned away than I wanted but there are still enough present to know they are there. The potions of the barrels that appear to have an unclean pit look are actually the hollow portions of seeds that turned out. I wanted to leave these openings for add character rather then filling or using a CA finish to smooth everything out.
