Waited all year for that tree to drop its cones for me. It finally went down!

pine cones

My neighbor has a large pine tree that I would love to try to turn the cones. Did you cast yours in acrylic?

So these were fresh cones from this year? The cones did not have to be "dried" any?

The closest I did was let them sit on my workbench for a few weeks. They had few tabs to begin with, and squrrels chewed most of what was there off. I just mark it like a regular blank, slice it and drill it. They're tougher than I expected, but will punish you for using a dull gouge. I don't know the exact breed of tree, but the cores are thick enough to use like blanks un-stabilized.
