I finished this for a buddy's Christmas present. I really like these pine cones- you don't know what they will look like until the end- I'm happy with how this one came out.

Nice job! I really like the pine cones. I want to try one myself but don't know what stage to get the pine cone from.

I find if you have limited resources, find some longneedle pine cones. Just trim the tabs off, maybe stabilize the core, and turn away. Make sure your tools are super sharp and you use a reall gentle touch. They punish you for getting sloppy.

Thanks- The pine cones I'm using are afgan pines- I use the ones that haven't opened up yet. I find them that way still on the trees and also on the ground.

Now that's hot! I love the tight looking effects around the center band. This has a deep rich color that really pops!
