Morning After design Using Phenolic, Bloowood and Birdseye Maple. Phenolic is very hard but turns well. Has anyone else had any experience turning Phenolic? Comments on pen welcome!

Les, looks like you've done Ron proud, I've not used Phenolic, the only Phenolic I've heard of is a Phenolic Resin. Is that what you used?

I got a piece that came from counter tops used in a school lab. I believe it is a synthetic plastic made from an aldehyde-phenol base, so I believe you could call it a resin?

I made a slimline out of phenolic once, but it was difficult for me since I was basically a total rookie at the time. If I had some more I might give it another shot.

Be careful when drilling solid phenolic. Use low drill speed and lube the bit with kerosene or mineral spirits. Heat will cause you grief with this stuff.
