I completed an order for seven Perfect Fit pens last night. They are from right to left -
  • thuya burl,
  • amboyna burl,
  • amboyna burl with sapwood,
  • spalted tamarind
  • maple burl,
  • maple burl
  • ash burl.

This customer doesn't like a shiny finish so these are mostly the wood sanded to 600 with a coating of Renaissance Wax burnished on with a paper towel. The Thuya Burl is a modified CA finish, otherwise the color doesn't look right to me.

Thanks for looking.

They are beautiful pens, Tony!!!

It would worry me to have just a wax finish. So, here is something I read recently, taken from an article written by RUSS FAIRFIELD several months ago:

Not a quote, but the jist was-- a CA finish does constitute a plastic finish which gives great protection. But, not all pen buyers want a shiny finish. So, Russ suggests you do the CA finish as you always would. Once it is complete, rub the finish with 0000 steel wool, until it is uniform and "matte".

I ALWAYS pay attention to Russ on finishing information, but I think this approach is a GREAT suggestion.

As you know, you are welcome to ignore!!!!
