gerryr, the blank was a stabilized blank from BB. I don't think it was spalted, but I'm never disappointed w/ his stuff, sometimes just with what I end up doing to it. []
Travis, This is one of my best recessing slots to date, but still not yet perfect (to my eye, the slot was nice and snug, but wasn't able to get it as squared as I wanted.) I learn a little more on each one I do and plan to pick up some miniature end mill tools that might help speed the process up a little.

btw, revised tutorial from the one you saw in the chat should be going to Jeff soon.
