This is made using Peppermint tree burl. I bought it from a guy in Germany but the wood is Australian (also called Australian Willow), emits a strong smell of peppermint when the leaves are crushed. Fantastic burl patterns and unusual orange-pink colour.

Matched with a chrome plated magnetic cap rollerball.

Finish is CA.

Beautiful pen. You mention the leaves smell of peppermint; did the wood have any fragrance as you turned it?

Great pen and piece of wood, I only wish that all Australian Willows (there are many...!) were like that. I have a few but only the Tortuosa/Cork-screw Willow as burls the rest, maybe be enough for 2 pen blanks, in a whole tree, if I'm lucky...!:frown:

Well done...!

Cheers

Very cool!

Don't think I've seen that species of wood here before....could it be a first? Hmm, inquiring minds must go searchin'

Really like the use of this timber in a longer format, lets ya see more wood!
