Pipe makers have always treasured Briar burl for making pipes, I turned a few cigar pens out of a nice small Italian briar burl today..
There is a small inclusion on the upper barrel of the bottom pen that looks exactly like a smoking pipe It is a 100 percent natural occurance and not something I did...wierd...

Very nice. The inclussion is a sand pit, often found in briar wood.
Briar wood grows in some of the harshes areas. It is a real bummer carving a pipe and you hit a big ol sand pit [xx(]
