Here's a pair of matching pen and rest's. These were cut from the same root stock, the pens friction polish and rests with a furntiure restorers wax compound.

The olive wood cut well - it is probably around 800yrs old - seems that the older the better! If you look carefullly my picture quality allowing [:I] ! The grain travels across the pen to the rest.

Interesting fact: You will see little round marks in the wood, this is where the olive tree picks up stones and dissolves them!! I guess we all just gotta get our minerals somehow!!

Those are beautiful Mike! Its neat that the same root stock will have such different colors. Thanks for the factoid about the stones!
