Pen #5 - Victorian Twist
Kit: Victorian Twist Pen Kit - 24K Gold
Blanks: Mono Swirls - Wizard's Mist Purple
Finish: Sanded and micromeshed
Kit + Blank purchased from Exotic Blanks

Definitely my favorite pen so far! The Victorian Twist kit is gorgeous by itself, but I think the Wizard's Mist compliments it well. I did try to make a little bit of a grip towards the lower end of the first blank, and it fits nicely in my fingers, but there is a line going around it at that point. I tried polishing it away, but I'm not sure what happened there. I finally tried sharpening my tools and it turned so much nicer this time! I can't wait for my next pen! :)

Try buffing it out?

Get a buffing wheel (from harbor freight or elsewhere) and attach it to the lathe so you can buff at variable speeds... :)

Looks nice, Avi! That's not a catch, that's a grip ring:wink:

I did purposefully make that grip ring dip in the blank, but there's another unintended ring inside it. :p

Looks like you may have touched a corner briefly or got a little chatter from the tool. Consider moving your tool rest closer as you turn down the diameter.

Maybe sand a bit more with your coarser grits and stop the lathe occasionally to check your progress and to sand longitudinally. That one could probably have been sanded out. Take you time and don't rush. Keep up the good work, you're off to a great start.
