Don't tell anyone---but they are old handles off a dresser---see the screw hole I had to fill--- Bakelite was used for many things back in the 1930's----- :)

Still don't know if I want to turn any of the old stuff, It's beautiful and I know the way it feels, my wife has a couple of Bakelite bracelets, but it;s gust too expensive for my market, sure looks good though.

Ken there are several draw backs to Bakelite that I have found. We talk about the cost of the blank----heck I still trash about 20% of them. Everything from blowing them up drilling to falling apart on the lathe. I turned one yesterday and when I took the finished product off the lathe it broke into pieces ----I am guesing it was to warm and the shop was to cold ???? Trust me bad words where used.
