I really enjoy turning Osage Orange even though it will dull out carbide tools quickly.

You turned a beautiful pen.

Try turning crosscut Osage Orange - makes for a beautiful pen.

Did you reverse the tubes? Or is the appearance of the upper tube being longer just a photographical anomaly?

Osage orange is an excellent wood. Yes, it is very hard but turns and polishes nicely. It will turn darker with time. Nice work on the pencil.

Just the angle of the camera makes the tubes look that way. The upper tube is shorter.
