I may have spaced them a little closer together but I like the color match of the bands and the bead.

What did you use for a finish? From the pic it looks almost bare.

I might have done the opposite, and moved them closer to the ends. Either way, it's a nice looking pen. I gotta get me a set up to do closed ends, they just look cool.
