Outstanding blank and beautiful pen! I am just getting into casting my own blanks. Where did you get the Abalone shell bits?

That is the pen that earned you membership in the PMG, isn't it?

It was done a couple years ago, before ANYONE else had succeeded with shell casting.

Yes this was the first abalone pen that I had seen and did get me into the PMG! I since got sick and have not been able to do much with pens. Since we seem to have a lot of newbees in the group, I thought I would show some of my past work. I got the abalone about 4 years on e-bay. It is a very time consuming pen to cast. Alice

Did you paint the tube, glue the abalone to it, then poir the acrylic over it?? Where did you get the acrylic, and are you sure it wasn't alumilite or PR??
If acrylic, did you need to use pressure??
